Weddings

Love is what we are all about at St Giles' —
our love and God's love.

As such, we are delighted that couples (irrespective of gender) wish to ask God's blessing on their relationship here, in this holy place. Same sex couples are very welcome to have a service of Blessing. It is not yet possible to celebrate same sex marriage in Church of England churches. The blessing may happen after a Civil Marriage or Civil Partnership, with the exchange of promises, rings, Holy Communion, music and readings and everything that befits such a joyful and solemn celebration.

Be it a Wedding or a Blessing, planning for this should be one of the happiest times in your life together. Whether the service is quiet and simple or elaborate.

Weddings in London nowadays can be very expensive. At St Giles’ we help celebrate grand and expensive weddings, and also very simple and affordable weddings. We understand the reality of such considerations. Please speak to the Rector openly about expectations early on.

Your celebration matters to us, and takes place in the life of this church. You and your loved ones become part of the ancient tradition of prayer and worship that has taken place in St Giles' for a thousand years, day by day and week by week. As you prepare for your wedding/blessing day we will be holding you in our prayers.

We like to get to know you beforehand, and we invite you to come the Sunday Parish Eucharist at 10.00-11.10am. There is coffee and sherry after the service and this gives us the opportunity to meet you and for you to speak with the Director of Music and to hear the choir and the organ, and to get to know others in the church.

"Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things".         1 Corinthians 13. 4-7
